Sentinel Monitoring System Helps Health Care Providers Meet Vaccine Cold Storage Guidelines

ASTON, Pa., August 21, 2019 – Proper vaccine storage and handling practices play a very important role in protecting individuals and communities from vaccine-preventable diseases, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The Sentinel™ monitoring system helps health care providers and professionals maintain vaccine quality and meet the CDC’s cold storage temperature guidelines. The system is ideal for hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies, research labs, health care clinics, blood and tissue banks, and pharmacies.

The Sentinel system provides 24/7 remote monitoring of temperatures inside medical refrigerators and freezers, as well as environmental conditions at medical laboratories and facilities. When the Sentinel system is used with Sensaphone’s local temperature display, the system meets or exceeds CDC guidelines. The display can be affixed to the door of a medical-grade refrigerator or freezer to provide an at-a-glance reading of the current temperature inside, as well as the minimum and maximum pre-set temperatures.

Sensaphone’s local temperature display is paired with a NIST-calibrated probe buffered in a bottle filled with either glycol or glass beads. The buffer ensures temperature readings represent the temperature of the refrigerator’s contents rather than the ambient air. The display can be used at any location where on-site staff needs a quick, convenient visual reading of the sensor, saving them the time of checking the monitoring system's data logs. It logs and displays the highest and lowest temperatures, provides an audible alarm for out-of-range temperatures and can be programmed to turn on a light or siren for additional on-site alarm notifications.

The display alarm is in addition to the alerts that the Sentinel system sends to designated personnel when temperatures fall out of range. Each unit monitors up to 12 different environmental and equipment status conditions including temperature from -109 °F to 168 °F (-85 °C to 76 °C), humidity, water detection, power failure and more. When the system detects a possible problem, it sends notification via phone call, text or email to the designated contacts. Its user-friendly cloud functionality lets users change settings, disable alarms and readjust temperature limits right from the Sensaphone iPhone/Android app or
