Easily Monitor Medical Cold Storage Temperatures Without Using Hard-Wired Sensors

ASTON, Pa., July 24, 2020 – To help healthcare professionals who are responsible for storing vaccines, pharmaceuticals, medical specimens and other inventory in refrigerators and freezers where hard-wiring sensors is difficult or cost-prohibitive, Sensaphone has developed the wireless WSG30™ system. This web-based monitoring system communicates with wireless sensors to detect changes in environmental conditions.

The WSG30 monitoring system is ideal for hospitals, biopharmaceutical companies, research labs, healthcare clinics, blood and tissue banks, pharmacies and other facilities that must keep medical products and samples in cold storage units.

The WSG30 system identifies changes in preset parameters and notifies users when sensor readings fall out of range. It helps operators track temperature changes, air pressure, humidity, water leaks, intrusion and more. A single WSG30 unit can support up to 30 wireless sensors.

When the WSG30 system detects a possible problem, it instantly sends alerts to up to 32 people by email or text message, enabling personnel to take fast corrective action. Users of the WSG30 system can make programming changes, access status conditions and review data logs online. The system can log up to 67,000 records, making it easy to demonstrate regulatory compliance and to identify trends that might indicate potential equipment problems.

Popular optional sensors for the WSG30 system used in medical cold storage include:

  • Wireless NIST Traceable Calibration Temperature Sensor with External Probe available in two temperature ranges: -28° to 46° C or -85° to 57 °C.
  • Wireless NIST Traceable Calibration Temperature Sensor in Buffered Bottle. Placing the sensor in a bottle filled with glass beads or glycol provides a reading that represents the temperature of the medical inventory rather than the ambient air temperature. Measures temperatures from -28° to 46° C.
  • Wireless Temperature Sensor with Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) Probe for monitoring ultra-low temperatures in liquid nitrogen tanks. Measures temperatures from -200° to 120 °C.
