Specialized Sensors Enhance Remote Monitoring of HVAC Operations

ASTON, Pa., September 20, 2022 – To help facility managers ensure HVAC conditions stay within necessary parameters and equipment is functioning properly, Sensaphone offers specialized sensors that monitor vibration, pressure, airflow and differential pressure. These sensors provide constant real-time data to an accompanying monitoring device, which sends an immediate alert to designated personnel when readings fall out of the designated range. Operators can use these sensors with any monitoring device that accepts a 4-20 mA input signal.

Vibration Sensor: Vibration fluctuations in HVAC systems are an early indicator of problems that cause equipment failure such as pump cavitation, unbalanced fans and bad bearings. Sensaphone’s vibration sensor can be permanently mounted on equipment like generators, cooling towers, fans and circulating pumps on chillers and boilers to continuously monitor vibration velocity and detect unusual conditions.

Pressure Sensor: Ideal for measuring and detecting loss of boiler pressure in hot water systems at large facilities including hotels, schools, hospitals, universities and housing communities, Sensaphone’s pressure sensor monitors for pump problems such as clogged intake or discharge lines, loss of suction or a burst pipe. The sensor monitors circulation pumps and general pressure of the hot water systems from the street side into the facility.

Duct Mount Air Flow Transmitter: This transmitter measures the rate of airflow, monitors the presence or absence of cool moving air and measures relative airflow from 0-16 meters per second. It is especially useful for monitoring air conditioning in ducts.

Differential Pressure Sensor: This sensor measures air pressure in two areas and indicates if there is a difference between the readings. It is ideal for cleanroom applications where air pressure must be the same in both rooms to prevent a vacuum upon opening a door that could pull dust or other pollutants into the space. Sensaphone offers both duct-mounted and wall-mounted differential pressure sensors.
